Traditions are
not inherited
They begin when a community decides to build something meaningful together, and then keeps showing up for it, year after year.
Music is the medium. Community is the outcome.
Jazz on Jefferson began with a simple observation: Door County already knows how to host the world. What the peninsula deserved next was a signature day of music, intimate enough to feel like ours, serious enough to draw the best musicians in the country.
So we chose one beloved block of Jefferson Street in downtown Sturgeon Bay and set out to build a festival the size of its town. Boutique on purpose. Owned by its community. Designed to grow over future years, without ever losing the feeling of the first one.
A town is remembered for what it builds together
For the community
One shared day that residents and visitors are equally proud of, year after year.
For the artists
Real stages and real audiences for world-class, regional, and emerging musicians.
For local business
A cultural draw that fills sidewalks, tables, and rooms across the peninsula.
Why Door County
A walkable waterfront peninsula of restaurants, galleries, small businesses, and natural beauty, with a hospitality culture that has welcomed travelers for generations. Thriving communities are built on both economic development and vibrant arts and culture, and this festival exists to strengthen the two together.
Presented by MUSE & drömhus
Jazz on Jefferson is produced by MUSE & drömhus with a growing circle of local partners, volunteers, and musicians. Every partnership is confirmed in writing, every dollar has a job, and every level of support belongs in the founding story.
Built to still be here in fifty years
Every great tradition has a first year. The only question is whose names are on its founding story.
